Emanuil Ivanov attracted international attention after receiving the First prize at the 2019 Ferruccio Busoni Piano Competition in Italy. This achievement was followed by concert engagements in some of the world’s most prestigious halls including Teatro alla Scala in Milan and Herculessaal in Munich. He is currently studying on a full scholarship at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the tutelage of Pascal Nemirovski and Anthony Hewitt, and is due to continue his studies at London’s Royal Academy of Music as a recipient of the prestigious Bicentenary Scholarship. His programme for KCMS brings together some of the finest piano writing of the 19th century, with a respectful nod to the Baroque era via Busoni’s famous transcription of Bach.

Following hugely popular concerts in our last three seasons, soloists of Opera Holland Park return to KCMS to give an evening of operatic classics, accompanied by renowned pianist and KCMS Chairman William Vann. Opera Holland Park is a summer opera company, just around the corner from Leighton House, which produces an annual season of opera performances, staged under a temporary canopy in front of the remains of Holland House. We are delighted to welcome some of their finest soloists to perform a thrilling selection of famous opera arias and ensembles. The full list of performers will be confirmed on the KCMS website in early 2025.

Patrick Hemmerlé piano
Patrick Hemmerlé is a French pianist based in England. He has gained recognition as a performer, as a recording artist, and is the artistic director of the Intimate Engagements series at Clare hall, Cambridge. He has a wide repertoire that comprises many works by lesser known composers, whom he likes to introduce to his audiences, alongside works by established masters. This programme for this concert does exactly this, by juxtaposing sonatas from the 18th and 20th century, which have in common an elegance, playfulness, and lightness of spirit, and putting Medtner and Kapustin Sonatas alongside those of Mozart and Beethoven.

“To tell a story. To move an audience”: this sums up Eva Zavaro’s mission, which she aims to fulfil whenever she gets onto the most prominent concert podia in the world, from France through the USA all the way to China and Japan. Eva Zavaro was born in Paris in 1995 into a musical family and started playing the violin at the age of five. When she was twelve she won the Vatelot-Rampal Competition in Paris and two years later she had a debut with the London Symphony Orchestra. She now ranks among the most prominent French violinists of her generation. Eva Zavaro plays an italian violin named "Le Bel Inconnu" made by Nicolo Amati and Antonio Stradivari which is generously loaned to her. Her programme for KCMS explores some of the most beautiful music written for the violin and piano.
