The World of the Piano Sonata

Wednesday 23rd April 2025, 7 - 9:30pm, Leighton House

Concert will start at 7:30pm.

Patrick Hemmerlé piano

Patrick Hemmerlé is a French pianist based in England. He has gained recognition as a performer, as a recording artist, and is the artistic director of the Intimate Engagements series at Clare hall, Cambridge. He has a wide repertoire that comprises many works by lesser known composers, whom he likes to introduce to his audiences, alongside works by established masters. This programme for this concert does exactly this, by juxtaposing sonatas from the 18th and 20th century, which have in common an elegance, playfulness, and lightness of spirit, and putting Medtner and Kapustin Sonatas alongside those of Mozart and Beethoven.
