Online Curator Talk: In the Footsteps of Frederic Leighton

Research for the exhibition Leighton and Landscape: Impressions from Nature included extensive detective work to identify the precise location of the ambiguous views that Leighton selected to paint on his travels across Europe, South West Asia and North Africa. Utilising the full resources of the internet has provided much new information and established the inaccuracy of many of the existing titles of the works.
Join Curator of Exhibitions and Displays, Hannah Lund, for this online talk describing the process involved and how it has lead to a fuller understanding of Frederic Leighton’s travels and interests.

Meet Hannah Lund
Hannah Lund, Curator of Exhibitions and Displays at Leighton House and Sambourne House, is currently focused on the future exhibition programme and the interpretation of both historic houses. She joined the museums full-time in 2018 to work on a project to rationalise the reserve collection. Between 2019 and 2022 she was responsible for developing displays and interpretation as part of the museum’s capital project Hidden Gem to National Treasure. Hannah studied History of Art at Edinburgh University, completing a Research Masters in British material culture in 2017.
