Nicole Line: Sublimation Printing onto textiles

Saturday 12 October 2024, 10am - 1pm

A practical, hands-on workshop with textile artist and lecturer Nicole Line.

Learn to hand paint and mark-make onto paper using a rage of colourful liquid dyes, before transferring your designs onto recycled synthetic fabric using the heat press. This process is known as heat-transfer printing or 'sublimation printing'.  Designs will be inspired by the beautiful textiles within Leighton House, or your own ideas.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a greater understanding of the process, the equipment and materials needed to print at home. As well as a collection of your own A5/ A4 textile samples and a bag to print onto.

Useful information

  • All levels of ability and experience are welcome.
  • Dress for mess and wear old trainers, the textile inks do stain clothing.
  • Please bring old white t-shirts - sublimation printing works best on synthetic fabrics. Please avoid dark colours.
  • The workshop will take place in the dedicated Learning Centre at Leighton House.
  • Participants will also have access to the museum and historic house.
  • Ticket price includes all the materials and the bespoke printed fabrics to take home.
  • Friends Under 30s receive 25% discount. Join The Friends today.
