Immerse yourself in the cultures that Frederic Leighton explored and captured in his landscape painting and discover the stories of recipes, ingredients, traditions and hospitality of this fascinating regions.

Meet Daniel Newman
Daniel Newman is Professor and Director of Studies in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University and a specialist in Arabic culture and language. He has been bringing historic recipes from the region to life for many years, and is the author of a number of books on the subject including The Exile’s Cookbook and The Sultan’s Feast.
