Kensington and Chelsea Music Society 2025-26 at Leighton House

We are delighted to welcome back Kensington and Chelsea Music Society (KCMS) to Leighton House with an outstanding season of seven concerts, featuring a mixture of new and established artists, performing an immensely varied and exciting programme including double bass and viola recitals, baroque chamber music, and opera.  

  • Please note that the concerts take place in Leighton's studio and start at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm).
  • Ticket price includes access to the museum.

Weird. Poignant. Wonderful. MUDlark! is a cabinet of curiosities, thieveries, and musical mysteries from the English Baroque and beyond, with music by Purcell, Playford, Hume, Handel, Gibbons and other treasures from the Thames. “And just as mudlarks scour the banks of the tidal river for fragments of London's past, well-trained in the art of seeking, so do we unearth forgotten sounds, uncover hidden connections, and shape each performance with discoveries along the way.”

Born in Slovenia in 2002, Zala Kravos was initiated into music from the age of three in Brussels and started piano lessons at the age of five in Luxembourg. The following year she entered the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg and later studied with Maria João Pires and Louis Lortie; she now studies at the Royal College of Music. Between 2009 and 2014 she won national and international competitions in Luxembourg and France and in 2016 in the USA, where she was invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. She also performs with orchestras and enjoys playing chamber music, including in a piano duet with her younger brother Val. She recorded her first solo album in 2017 at the age of 14: critics across Europe were unanimous in their praise. In June 2021, she recorded a second album of piano duets with her brother Val, equally well received by critics. Their programme for KCMS is a voyage through the finest of all piano music.

Following hugely popular concerts in our recent seasons, soloists of Opera Holland Park return to KCMS to give an evening of operatic classics, accompanied by renowned pianist and KCMS Chairman William Vann. Opera Holland Park is a summer opera company, just around the corner from Leighton House, which produces an annual season of opera performances, staged under a temporary canopy in front of the remains of Holland House. We are delighted to welcome some of their finest soloists to perform a thrilling selection of famous opera arias and ensembles. Shostakovich String Quartet No. 3 in F major, Op. 73

The Regency String Quartet was formed at the Royal Academy of Music in 2021, recently won the Royal Overseas League Strings and Keyboard Ensembles Category 2025 and have also been selected as 2025/26 Kirckman Concert Society Artists. The quartet is coached and mentored by Alex Redington from the Doric String Quartet and has been awarded a number of prizes from the Royal Academy of Music. Their programme for KCMS brings together works by three of the most highly regarded composers for string quartet of all time: a thrilling evening.

Praised for his “Astounding virtuosity”, American double bassist Levi Andreassen is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, driven by his desire to push the limits of his instrument. A laureate of numerous international competitions, Levi was recently awarded 1st Prize at the 2025 Haslemere International String Competition as well as 1st Prize at the 2023 International Society of Bassists Youth Solo Competition, 2023 London Classical Music Competition and the 2022 Caneres International Competition. He and KCMS Chairman William Vann recently recorded Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Five Mystical Songs alongside Roderick Williams, the Sacconi Quartet, and William Vann for Albion Records.

Simone Alessandro Tavoni is an acclaimed Italian pianist who has performed internationally at prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and Palau de la Música Catalana. A Parklane Group Artist and Keyboard Charitable Trust Artist, he received a full scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival, studying with Fabio Bidini. He holds degrees from the Royal College of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Liszt Academy, and Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart. Simone was selected for the BBC Pathway Scheme and is supported by HSH Dr. Donatus Prince of Hohenzollern. His programme commemorates two composers with vividly contrasting styles, born 150 and 160 years ago respectively: the Spanish Manuel de Falla and the French Erik Satie. To conclude, we hear Chopin’s monumental Third Sonata: an unmissable evening.
