From the Majlis to the Midan: A Living Garden Gathering

Wednesday 5 August 2026, 1 - 4:30pm

Join us for a special National Play Day celebration in the garden, bringing together families, young people and adults for an afternoon of joyful play and cultural connection.

Relax with tea and sweets and enjoy timeless board games that have brought people together for generations. Learn to play backgammon, a cornerstone of café culture across the Arab world  and join in with traditional games such as Al-Hajla - hopscotch in English and Al-Malaqi - tag in English, reimagined for all ages to enjoy together. Throughout the afternoon a live calligrapher will be on hand, creating beautifully hand-written names and proverbs, a special keepsake to take home.

A welcoming, drop-in gathering designed for all generations to enjoy together.
