Family Fun (5-10yrs): Tirgan, A Persian Festival of Summer Joy

Saturday 4 July 2026, 1 - 4pm (drop-in workshops)

Join us for a joyful family friendly afternoon celebrating Tirgan, an ancient Iranian summer festival of water, poetry and renewal. Traditionally celebrated in early July, Tirgan marks the arrival of rain and the end of drought, rooted in stories of nature, joy, and collective hope. At the heart of the festival is the legend of Arash the Archer. Families will experience this story brought to life through live music and interactive storytelling.

The afternoon will also include playful water activities, reflecting the festival's rituals of splashing water to celebrate rain. Tirgan is a celebration of connection to nature, to memory and to one another and this afternoon will offer a gentle and engaging introduction to Persian cultural traditions for all.

This event is part of Persian Seasons at Leighton House and it is generously supported by the British Institute of Persian Studies.
