Join award-winning textile artist Alice Burnhope for a day exploring traditional textiles techniques such as appliqué, gathers and pleats which can be observed within the Victorian period.

During the day, you'll learn 7 diverse textile techniques and will also have the chance to discuss your specific interests and identity so that they can be translated into your own personal brooch.

 

Useful information

  • All levels of ability and experience are welcome.
  • The workshop will take place in the dedicated Learning Centre at Leighton House.
  • After the workshop, participants will also have access to the museum and historic house.
  • Ticket price includes all the materials and the bespoke accessory to take home.

 

Meet Alice Burnhope

Alice Burnhope is an award-winning textile artist and artist educator, specialised in socially-engaged artwork.  Alice's practice is based in sustainable textile techniques, such as utilising waste materials and traditional crafts like natural dyeing, embroidery, patchwork, quilting, and pattern cutting. Alice's work has been exhibited internationally and she has taken part in group and solo shows in London and throughout the UK.
